We all want our children to grow into being responsible, contributing members of our families and, ultimately, of society. How do we guide our children to acquire the necessary skills and motivation? This workshop will explore parenting practices that teach children responsibility for themselves, for their schoolwork, for their home, and for their relationships.

Join East End Arts for the largest community art event found anywhere on Long Island! 

The most colorful day of the year was inspired by the street artists of Grazie di Curtatone, Italy who gather each year for the Incontro Nazionale dei Madonnari where the streets of the village are converted into works of art in chalk.

For one day, East End Arts converts the Downtown Riverhead area by the Peconic River into a celebration of the arts. It’s a day to stroll, enjoy the fresh air, watch artists in action, and participate in family-oriented activities. Music fills the air as do the enticing smells of the local food trucks. 

Artists, musicians, and art lovers of all ages participate or watch as artists convert squares of the street into vibrant and moving works of art. 

There’s something for everyone at this family-friendly event:

EVENT HAS CHANGED TIME TO 12 - 2 PM

Drop the kids (ages 5-10) for an evening of jigsaw puzzle making. Each child can create up to two puzzles following the instructor’s directions or a vision of their own. Fee $15/resident, $20/non-resident.

Introducing Art Lab on the Lawn: An in-season invitation to get creative with your kid crew, brought to you by Artfully Long Island, Petite North Fork, and Hotel Moraine.

Together, we will provide monthly opportunities for families to enjoy the beauty and community of the North Fork while using recycled and upcycled materials to imagine and create. With a variety of interesting materials and endless possibilities, children can explore, create, and bring their unique ideas to life at their own pace.

Art Lab on the Lawn will take place on Sunday, May 25, MDW, from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Attendees are welcome to attend anytime during that timeframe for an open art and creation session.

Tickets cost $15/artist, the event is open to children and adults of all ages.

Star Wars fans unite to celebrate May 4th - Star Wars Day at The Shoppes at East Wind.

Attend dressed as your favorite Star Wars character and take a photo in the gazebo where there will be a Star Wars inspired backdrop and the carousel will be open with some featured characters.

This event runs during The Shoppes at East Wind’s Craft Fair which will feature carousel rides, a bounce house, face painting, craft vendors, and more.
